  MoCM: REC & PLAY Suitcase improvisation is a release of three tracks in a limited edition of (Chrome Cr02) Audio-cassettes and digital format.
  
  The music has been a studio performance by Andreas Monopolis – MoCM on 23/01/20 - 08/03/20 - 17/03/20.
  
  This improvisation was created from a modified suitcase containing a variety of custom-built and commercially available sound devices, making it a practical and portable self-contained sound system for live performance.
  
  It is worth noting that the sounds and material on this piece, expand the boundaries of A. Monopolis’ musical narrative. That narrative is usually one, more specifically, from an electro-acoustic and experimental musical genre. This work has been brought closer to sounds dealing, to a greater extent, with melody and noise rhythms.
  
  By means of a record & play process (R&P) the complex process of creative composing and capture is simplified and immediate. In other words, R&P has enabled the artist’s performance to be captured spontaneously and without the need for post-production editing, thus keeping the morphology of the original moment of creation.

  Side A. Track 1: The Message - 17/3/2020
  This piece was inspired by the first SMS warning, sent by the Civil protection organization, regarding the covid19 epidemic in Greece.
  At that moment the composer was just about to start playing and recording some tunes. The message was a total surprise as the mobile phone started making a hitherto unheard weird and scary sound! So after reading the warning message, the setup changed on the fly, quite spontaneously and without any preparation. There was an instinctive need for the feeling to be transmogrified into something else..
  
  Side A. Track 2: Faith on you - 23/1/2020
  In this performance, the common reference cassettes were used again. This time, in a somewhat weirder and more cheerful way, they are skillfully stirred into the melodic atmosphere of the other assembled electronic sounds. The audible excerpts that can be distinguished come from blended religious rhetoric and sermon riding on a gentle wave of sarcasm.

  Side A. Track1: F&Q - 8/3/2020
  Something that makes this piece stand out is the greater use of speech. The voices, which can be heard frequently throughout this piece, consist of random computer generated questions, followed by random computer generated answers and are recited by computer generated imitation human voices. This dialogue, together with some extracts from an interview with a schizophrenic patient have been reproduced via a modified cassette player and imported into the patchwork of this live composition.
